“Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it.” ― Christopher Hitchens
This is the latest joint event with the Swindon Philosophical Society. The last talk from Deborah Hyde was a great success and this next event should be just as interesting a topic for discussion:
Where death is, I am no longer, where I am death is not. This is the argument Epicurus uses in order to rationally convince us that we shouldn’t fear our death. But is death entirely foreign to life and are the two mutually exclusive. In this talk, Prof Havi Carel will explore the issues, contrasting Epicurus’ views on death with those of Heidegger.
This sounds like an absolutely fascinating talk for both humanists and philosophy fans, hope to see you all there!
