A voice for the non-religious in Swindon

“Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it.” ― Christopher Hitchens

Jan 23rd – Deborah Hyde talk on skepticism

Our meeting this month is a joint one with Swindon Philosophical Society, and I’ve invited Deborah Hyde to come and talk to us about skepticism.

Skeptics like an evidence-based approach to life, especially if someone is telling them what to do. The American spelling – ’Skeptic’ – is deliberate. The noun denotes a growing movement of people; more coagulated than coordinated, most of them like science and a rational approach to life.

Deborah is, during the day, a film-industry makeup effects coordinator who also gets on the wrong side of the camera from time to time. She has a website and blog where she discusses the supernatural, folklore and skepticism.

Deborah is also the editor of The Skeptic Magazine:

Very much looking forward to the talk, I hope to see all of you there!

Friday 23rd January, 7.40pm – Friend’s Meeting House, Eastcott Hill, Swindon SN1 3JF
